The Studio was closed this past weekend as Mindy Belloff participated in the Oak Knoll Book Fest in historic New Castle, Delaware. Featuring the Goddard Declaration of Independence prints handset and printed in September 2009 and the new contemporary edition that went to press on July 4, 2010. Mary Katharine Goddard was commissioned by Congress in 1777 to print the Declaration. This was the second letterpress printing and the first to reveal all the signers’ names. The recreation by Intima Press is the first contemporary printed edition. Also featured at the Fair were fine printed editioned books, including books inspired by the poetry of Molly Peacock and Janet Frame, and unique broadsides set in metal and wood type.
It was great to see colleagues and friends and all the wonderful typography and fine letterpress books from the U.K., U.S., Ireland and Canada!
