Spring in the Studio

In the Studio this month we had quite a range of activities from printing letterpress business cards and invitations, to print consults and group visits, including:

A dozen designers came to the Studio, who were being  honored by Traditional Home magazine.  We explained letterpress and a condensed history of printing,  designed a lovely broadside in metal type, and printed them as a memorable keepsake for everyone.  Good lookin group!

It was great working with Peter, the Father of the Bride, Kate, on this lovely Florida wedding.  Mindy Belloff designed a large square invitation with a nautilus shell interior, and  letterpress printed it in 3-colors with soft blues and soft black text.  The reply card is a pretty seahorse design, and the information card sports a little star fish. The custom mixed inks match the pretty blue/green envelope liners. Guest addressing in the same script and roman fonts, along with custom postage stamps, added to the final details.

We had a very nice group of Middle School students from Brooklyn, who learned about the history of printing and the recreation of Mindy’s Goddard Declaration of Independence in a morning talk, with letterpress demo.
